with my family now on the island, my vow — 'to spend as much quality, family time with them as possible' — is in full swing. my canadian clients have been maintaining their loyalty, seeking hi-octane fueled design from abroad... oh yeah, there's that little thing of us looking for a home... with all that, the first month of my family being here certainly blew by quickly.

antigua boasts 365 beaches. and its our duty to check all of them out. ché loves chasing the waves, digging holes & running up & down the beach with abandon. a few beaches we bring arnie our wonder dog. sometimes we've brough st clair. a trip to the beach is never boring. there's always something interesting to see. the crowd's size & variety always seems to be different. what also makes a trip to the beach a pleasure is when we go. on a friday after picking up ché from pre-school we trip down for a dip. or 6:30 am is a wonderful time to splash about for a bit, before we start our weekday. we've actually got a big plastic tub in the back of the subaru. it contains: towels, floatation devices, sunscreen etc. ready at any time, just in case we find ourselves needing to cool off. so far we've enjoyed the following beaches: Hawksbill, Jabberwock, Long, Pigeon Point,

we had our first sighting of a familiar canadian traveller. the director of ché's toronto daycare emailed us with an alert that she would be on-island for a family wedding. as things go, we didn't get a lot of time in with karen grant, but it was nice to see her just the same. she was in the wedding party & was dressed to kill. it was also a nice opportunity to slide down & take in Jolly Harbour beach.
another pass-time has been trekking around the island & introducing ourselves to the many relatives who live in antigua. many were long-lost; reunited by lois' mother who has been staying with us. irma has been instrumental in helping us ease into our new home country. and all the while, she has been bringing us together with family, some of whom she hasn't seen in more than a decade. her brother the pastor in liberta, has made us feel very welcome, as has her farmer brother ernest, older sister: aunty yaya, aunt catherine, uncle neville & many friends of decades gone by...
