16.09.06, miss me yet?

the last couple weeks have flown by so fast, i can hardly believe it. while its hard to believe i've been away from my family for a whole month, i miss them terribly. i left my oldest DSLR rebel camera with lois to take pictures of the kids in my absence. last night she sent me the first images of willow. my eyes welled when i saw how much she's changed. see for yourself.
i think in these pictures she's doing a 'whoop der it is' move, but i'm not sure.

while working towards obtaining a passport for willow, lois & i spent my last day in toronto scooting from city hall in toroonto to city hall in etobicoke, we begged government workers to help us to complete the documents. hours pass, i's are dotted, t's are crossed, all is in order, a rush fee is paid, out it goes to thunderbay... 3 weeks later the application returns with s letter. the app is incomplete. it seems willow didn't sign the form...

willow isn't the newest addition to our family. ARNIE is the latest member of the breadner crew. after mentioning to a family friend how i look forward to picking out a puppy with che, one appeared at my door. the pup was named by che who can't wait to play with her. and frankly, neither can i. i am happy for the company & she keeps my parenting skills sharpened. so far, she has gnawed my eye glasses (including the lenses), punctured my air bed, (which has been repaired) & keeps me on my toes by presenting me with any dirty clothes left on the floor & garbage from the can. but arnie is innocent, adorable, loves to ride in the car (which generates chuckles from the construction crew) & loves to swim at the beach.

the heat is beginning to ease a bit. it took me 3 weeks before my brains caught up with my needs. i thought i could stick it out until the container arrived, but i broke & bought a fan for my room. duh! now i am not sweating ontop of my sheets. the fan is also good breeze to blow the mosquitoes off me. as the new exotic flavour for all the different types of predators i was waking up with a half dozen welts, each morning.
i discovered some very dangerous creatures. they had me fooled. i thought they were gnats or fruit flies (harmless enough). but realized these microscopic vampires are SANDFLIES. at dusk when the wind dies, step outside & prepare for dinner. i mean prepare to BE dinner. antiguan mosquitoes are small & fast. canadian mosquitoes are bumble bees by comparison (easy to hear, see & swat). sandflies are even smaller, faster, silent & pack a serious chomp. thank goodness they only do dusk. when it's pitch black, they're gone.

photos described:
- jabberwock beach & arnie the chewing puppy (top).
- the only person to ask for a hand-out. when i asked for a picture, he began to dance.
- an egret, stood 3 ft tall.
- more neighbourhood goats.
- toward st john's from hilltop view (see house hunting 2).
